CERT Principles
These principles of
mediumship are not written
in stone, merely a tool
written by a successful
practicing medium, Stephen
O'Brien. We
find them to be a good
tool for helping mediums
develop their skill and
helping sitters to
recognize their visitors.
Our primary purpose in
Spirit Talks is to prove
that there is life after
death. Our mediums
work to prove this truth
to our guests through
discussion and readings.
We'd like our mediums to
use these guidelines when
imparting spirit
communications to their
sitters.
C = Communicator
The communicator is the
spirit communicating
through the medium, with
the sitter. A medium
should try to get a
description of the
communicator. What
does he or she look like?
What colors are the
spirit's hair and skin.
What size and shape is
their "body"? How
old do they appear to be?
Are they heavy set, medium
or thin? A name
would be a great place to
start. The medium
should work to establish
the communicator first.
E=Evidence
Next the medium should
gather evidence that the
person they are speaking
with is who he or she says
they are. This is
best established by
relating shared mutual
experiences with the
sitter. What have
they been through together
that the medium would not
know?
R=Reason
Now we'd like our mediums
to try to ascertain the
reason for the
communication. Is
the spirit attempting to
get a message to the
sitter? Is the
spirit just coming to say
"Hi! Life DOES go on
and I'm happy here."
Does the spirit want to
impart news or information
to the sitter? Many
sites do not allow
predictions or health
information. We at
Spirit Talks do not want
to restrict our Spirit
Guests in what information
they wish to impart.
However, if this type of
information is given, we'd
like our mediums to remind
their sitters that these
readings are not set in
stone, that life is fluid
and changeable, that
mediums make mistakes and
perhaps spirits do too,
and that nothing should be
taken as absolute truth.
Remember, readings are for
entertainment purposes.
T=Tie Up
When
all of the above
information is given at
the best of the
communicator's ability and
is received to the best of
the medium's ability, and
is then imparted to the
sitter in a kind manner,
it's time to tie up the
reading. This may
include any additional
information the
communicator wishes to
give and is a good time
for the sitter to ask
questions. Make sure
that both your
communicator and sitter
are as satisfied as
possible and sincerely
thank both the
communicator and the
sitter for spending their
time with you.
